Application Rewriting

Your existing, legacy FoxPro systems will contain business logic and processes much of which may still be relevant to your business procedures today. However, where new functionality is required or improvements needed, a complete rewrite of the system is often the best and most effective approach.

You may be interested in moving your application to an Internet based system - we can look at your application and your requirements and let you know the best way to achieve this.

Our approach to Rewriting

Our typical approach to rewriting an application can be summarised as follows:

  • Review the existing system, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
  • Collect and analyse new requirements (this is the best time to build them in).
  • Produce a (usually) brief specification (the existing system acts as the detailed specification - this saves cost).
  • Start to Write the new system, where possible in manageable phases and with achievable prototypes for testing.
  • Continue a cycle of developing and releasing modules for review and testing. This ensures the user is involved throughout the development process.
  • Finally, deploy the new software and perform data migration (if required).
